Onyx Group Atlanta — About Us

Every person deserves to grow older with dignity, safety, and a place to truly call home — senior shared housing in Atlanta for adults 50 and older

THE PROBLEM

The Gap We Were Built to Close

Across Atlanta, thousands of adults aged 50 and older face a housing crisis that rarely makes headlines. Life takes many different shapes. People arrive at their later years through many different paths, and not all of them lead to the kind of financial stability that makes housing feel secure.

As the cost of living has risen, fixed incomes have not kept pace. Traditional rentals are out of reach. Assisted living is unnecessary for those who are still fully independent. And the space in between, stable, structured, and affordable long-term housing, has largely been left unfilled.

35%

of individuals experiencing homelessness in Atlanta are over the age of 55.

The number of older adults experiencing homelessness is projected to triple between 2017 and 2030 as the cost of living outpaces fixed income.

OUR MISSION IN ACTION

What Drives Everything We Do

At ONYX GROUP ATLANTA, our mission is not a statement on a wall. It shows up in every home we operate, every person we welcome, and every standard we uphold.

🏙️

Why It Matters

Atlanta's older adults face a growing and urgent housing crisis. As costs rise and options shrink, the need for structured, long-term housing that honors their independence has never been greater. We exist because this gap is real, and because it is wrong.

🤝

Our Commitment to Dignity

Every resident who walks through our doors is a full person with a full life behind them. We do not manage people. We support them. Our homes are built on respect, clear standards, and the belief that stability and dignity are not luxuries but necessities.

🌱

Hope as a Foundation

Stable housing is the starting point for everything else: health, connection, independence, and a sense of future. When people have a safe place to land, they can begin to grow and thrive. That is what we offer, and what we believe every person deserves.

Our Story

Our story begins with a woman who had lived a full and meaningful life.

She navigated the world with strength, built stability for herself, and carried herself with the kind of dignity that comes from a life well lived. But as she aged into her later years, that stability began to slip. Not because of any failure on her part, but because the systems around her were not built to hold her. The income she had was not enough to afford the safe, stable housing she had always known. She found herself caught between what she once had and what was now available to her.

Witnessing that experience was the moment ONYX GROUP ATLANTA took shape. It became clear that this was not an isolated story. It was a pattern playing out quietly across our city, affecting people who had done nothing wrong and deserved far better than what the housing market was offering them.

We started ONYX GROUP ATLANTA because we believe hope is a housing issue. Because every person, regardless of their path, deserves a stable place to land. And because Atlanta's older adults have given too much to this community to be left without one.

WHY WE STARTED

MISSION AND VISION

Our Mission

To provide structured, long-term shared housing for independent adults aged 50 and older in Atlanta, removing barriers to access while upholding accountability, safety, and respect.

OUR VISION

A city where no adult is left without safe, stable, and dignified housing simply because of age or income.

What We Stand For

Dignity is non-negotiable. Every resident deserves to be treated with respect, not as a case to be managed, but as a person to be served.

Stability over temporary solutions. We build for the long term. Our homes are designed to be places residents can stay, not places they pass through.

Accountability creates safety. Clear standards and consistent oversight protect everyone, including residents, families, and referral partners alike.

Community is our foundation. We are Atlantans serving Atlantans. The people in our homes are not outsiders. They are members of our shared community.

Hope is a housing issue. Stable housing is the platform from which everything else, including health, connection, and independence, becomes possible.

WHAT WE PROVIDE

A Stable Foundation for What Comes Next

ONYX GROUP ATLANTA offers fully furnished, structured shared homes exclusively for independent adults aged 50 and older. Our homes are not emergency shelters or transitional programs. They are long-term living environments built for people who are ready and able to live independently but need a stable, affordable option that the traditional rental market has failed to provide.

Every home is standards-based, consistently maintained, and overseen by our leadership team. Residents can expect safety, privacy, community, and the kind of environment that reflects the life they have already built, not a step down from it.
